The
Cochlear
Advocacy
group
was
initially
formed
through
Cochlear
SA
and
Southern
ENT
to
coordinate
a
support
group
working
together
with
Tygerberg
Hospital
Cochlear
Implant
unit.
It
was
decided
that
this
group
would
join
forces
with
HearUs
as
their
support
arm.
The
objectives
of
this
group
are
as
follows:
- To
increase
awareness
of
the
benefits
of
Cochlear
Implant
solutions
and
of
who
might
benefit
from
this
procedure.
- To
provide
first
hand
experience
of
how
and
why
you
choose
to
have
hearing
implants.
- To
offer
support
to
candidates
and
early
implant
recipients.
When
it
comes
to
big
decisions
in
life,
it
is
natural
for
people
to
want
to
talk
to
others
to
get
the
value
of
their
similar
experiences.
For
the
parent
of
a
deaf
child
or
someone
who
has
hearing
loss,
only
someone
who
has
shared
their
experience
can
really
know
what
it
feels
like
to
have
hearing
restored.
The
support
group
consists
of
parents
whose
children
have
implants
as
well
as
a
broad
range
of
people
who
have
had
implants
and
they
are
all
willing
to
share
their
experiences.
The
support
group
is
available
for
any
support
matters
related
to
Cochlear
Implants
so
please
contact
us
through
the
support
email
address
on
the
contacts
page.
