Position Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Director of Project Management to lead our construction operations based in Birmingham, AL . This role requires a minimum of 10 years of commercial construction leadership experience , with a strong technical background and a proven ability to manage large-scale, complex projects. The VP of Construction will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project execution, team development, financial performance, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all construction operations and take full ownership of financial performance across assigned projects
  • Oversee end-to-end execution of commercial construction projects, from preconstruction through closeout
  • Drive business development efforts , including estimating, negotiating scopes, and building strategic partnerships
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, ensuring satisfaction and long-term relationship growth
  • Mentor, coach, and support project teams to encourage professional growth and internal advancement
  • Ensure adherence to company safety policies and promote a culture of accountability and risk mitigation
  • Provide technical oversight and problem-solving guidance on MEP systems and jobsite challenges
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on scheduling, budgeting, and progress tracking
  • Monitor and communicate timeline, cost, and risk forecasts to executive leadership and project teams
  • Ensure projects meet contractual and regulatory compliance requirements at all stages
  • Cultivate and maintain strong industry relationships with subcontractors, design teams, and vendors

Required Background:

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in commercial construction , including ground-up and renovation projects
  • Demonstrated experience delivering HVAC, plumbing, and MEP-intensive scopes in commercial or industrial environments
  • Educational background in Construction Management, Engineering , or a related technical field (degree preferred but not required)
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills with a focus on driving performance
  • Proficiency in construction and project management software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, project scheduling tools, document control platforms)
  • Experience with design-build and other collaborative delivery methods
  • Comfortable working in both field and office environments
  • Willingness to relocate to or work in the Birmingham, AL area and travel regionally as needed
